Yesterday, the 6th of June was our National Day

and it turned into a beautiful swedish summers day with flags visible all over

we celebrate our National Day in honor of  two historical events.....on 6th june 1523 Gustav Vasa was elected king, and on the same date in 1809 a new constitution was adopted...

we celebrated by having family and friends over for dinner.....and we got to see our daughter and husband for the first time in a year ! that's worth celebrating, don't you think ?

at around 10.30 all of us decided to go for a late evening walk...needed some exercise after all the food, wine and the oh so yummy strawberry cake...

as usual we ended up walking to the harbour

it was almost magical with the lights and the calm water

I love the long swedish evenings with the wonderful light

what a wonderful National Day we had even though we didn't wave any flags

Delicious dinner at Hotell Mossbylund

Mr M treated us to a delicious dinner at Hotell Mossbylund this evening..

and what an evening it turned out to be...

the day started in shades of grey and ended in shades of blue

we rode our bikes to the hotell which is about 2 kilometers from home...

it feels like such a luxury to be able to do that

last year the new wing to the right opened up at the hotel...so now we also have a spa a couple of minutes from home...

100 beds and great conference rooms ....sauna, pool, bubble pools, spa treatments and great food....

all in the most beautiful setting....100 meters to the beach and the ocean and in the back the green rural area that is so typical for our area...

the setting is just wonderful

the table was just so nicely set...all in my taste.....

the 3 course dinner was one of the best we've had actually ....and I tried a new beer from Kristianstad

almost local....a klackebacken...it was really good... 

this dessert was so good...I think we'll give them almost the highest grades ever on a meal...

it was that good...it's really worth a trip...

I wouldn't mind spending some hours in the spa....I guess I need to look into that....

both Mr M and I could need some massage after a week of hard work in the garden

but first a good nights sleep

today he's been outside climbing the trees and "playing" with the birds in our backyard

so now he's so tired

but he's such a cutie

So many swans

today the sky is grey and it's been raining almost all day....

but I don't care

I just have to put on more clothes

the air is fresh and I can smell the ocean

so the pictures I'm posting are from the other evening 

every year we have all these swans coming to us

and this year was no exception

I guess they find lots to eat around here ......

they are so beautiful "gliding" across the surface

I think I counted to 97 swans this evening....that's a whole lot of swans !

and one sailing boat 

just look at the colour of the water !

it was an incredible evening....

what struck me after looking at these five pictures is how different the colour of the water is

the pictures are all from within 25 minutes or so...

jut different light and angles

can't wait to get out there in our kayak

hopefully tomorrow

I'm expecting.....

tomatoes, beans, squash, chillies, herbs, flowers,strawberries,rhubarbs and currant.....

and I don't have to wait nine months...

yesterday my very best friend Katrin came with the best gift ever...

tomatoes, I don't know how many different ones, beans, squash, herbs, sallad and flowers....

not bad ha ?

my problem was that I didn't have anywhere to put it all...

today we solved that problem...I hope you're impressed Katrin !!??

my strawberries and....

my pallet rim that we had done today !! we used 15 bags of soil and 4 bags of cow fertiliser...that's a lot of kilos I tell you... it turned out great.....the squash and some beans and tomatoes found it's way in there....does it look good Katrin ?

4 different kinds of tomatoes...my friend Katrin has green fingers and gets the best tomatoes...

hmm I wonder if I'll get any.....

next to them my rhubarbs...and

behind the red and black currant grows....I always get a lot of berries....

the rest of my gift ended up in my green house...

and since I know that some of you don't know what a  green house is I'm giving you the tour

our green house is used both as a cosy dining place but also as a green house...where things can grow...it has windows that automatically opens up to get the right temperature and humidity...

we have green grapes...the big greenery you see in the right corner...

at the moment the grapes are so small....I sure hope I get to pick some before leaving...

the Buddha I got as a birthday gift from my kids....love it...

for mothers day this year I got this beautiful bird cage...it had a lavender pot inside...now it holds the chilli plant I got yesterday...

a pot with the herb chocolate mint..I touch it every day...smells just like chocolate....amazing

in this corner I made a table with all the goodies that my friend brought me...

more tomatoes, herbs, beans and flowers....I need to replant some of the tomatoes in BIG pots....I just need more soil.... I didn't believe my friend when she told me how much soil I would need...now I know better... 

my olive trees....I always have some... this year I only have some small ones...

in the other corner I have a red grape...Mr M got it for his birthday...so it's newly planted....

more lavender, olives and tomatoes...and my sea shell lights from Good Earth...

smells fantastic with lavender on the table...

now I can only wait and see what happens inside and outside...I so wish that I had my friends green fingers...water and lots of love...will that be enough ?..I guess we'll have to wait and see...

An amazing summers evening

a fantastic summers day turned into an even more fantastic evening so we just had to go for a looooong bike ride along the coast...  

 we ended up at our beach spot...

amazing light...it was actually around 6.30 in the evening...

we could see all the way to Ystad...the big white silos way out there is the harbour in Ystad....

sand, pebbles, rocks and water....

sun is up until about 10 o clock....the evening light is amazing....

sailing boats way out there

see the guy who is out there fishing ? it's a popular sport to fish in the ocean around here...many tourists from Denmark and Germany come just to fish...

it's Abbekås harbour in the left corner by the way...

almost home again we saw this heron .....it's not that often I see them....quite big birds....

I just had to show you even though the picture isn't  sharp...just look at that wingspan...

this afternoon my best friend came over with tomato plants, flowers, bean plants and sallads etc

so guess what I'm doing tomorrow ?

maybe I'll show you once it's all done

after a day out in the fresh air I'm so tired so I'm saying

good night and sleep tight
