Handmade paper in Sanganer, Jaipur.

I was so happy that we found one of the places where they make paper
from scratch...meaning from "lump"and that they let us in and take pictures..
since they did we didn't say anything when they overcharged us with the paper things we bought..
I did react to them putting the money right into their pockets though as if we didn't understand what they just did..

first we did see paper laid out to dry and of course we just had to stop...

women collecting the  paper when all dried...

they so wanted to have their pictures taken...
the we drove to the paper factory...when we entered it said no pictures all over but he did allow us and also took us on a tour....

this is the base...handmade paper is made from old cotton or linen..old clothes and bed linen etc. all mixed with water and shredded....lump kallas det hemma...across the street they had a place that collected the fabric and also shredded it...

again going through the shredding machine but also with colour...then it goes through all these filters (nets) and slowly you begin to see the sheets...

here the paper goes through to squeeze out the excess water and then placed neatly in piles..

same procedure but red paper..

women putting the dried paper in colour piles...

then it went through a flattening machine...

some paper went through the "3D" machine...

christmas is coming closer...
lady in charge of the excess glitter....

screen prints...see what it is...rudolf the red nosed rain deer...

look at all that paper in piles all over...

a fast and effective way of making many bags fast...

I thing this guy has done this a couple of times before....

these women where handling the rope in the shopping bags...we did see some guys who where gluing together bags and cutting paper into cards and doing envelopes...this factory had it all....
and finally they had the showroom where we could buy the overpriced paper items...
but we got the tour and pictures so...
what we bought ? cards, wrapping paper, and gift bags
I though it was awesome to see the whole process...
