Tuqhlakabad Fort...

is a ruined fort in Delhi built by the founder of Tuqlak dynasty in 1321
the ruins stretches for more than 6 km !
it was the third historic city of Delhi (out of seven)
Tuqlak was known as a headstrong tyrant....
anyhow
my friend Kathy and I explored the ruins last week

so many monkeys in the park outside the ruins....

huge area...some areas of the park are not good for women to wander around in...
...we got a guard that followed us around and also told us about the fort...

an old baoli....stepwell...but no water...

we met this gorgeous little girl with her goats at the baoli...

in the Palace we found these windows on the inside of the walls...
for lamps or decorative items....

standing in the huge dining area in the Palace.... fire places in all corners....

impressive walls.....

underground rooms and passages...this one had 35 rooms not shown from above....

another huge baoli...stepwell....we couldn't find any steps though because it was really  all in ruins...
but the trees and bushes growing in the old wall sure was decorative

from the highest point we could see the whole village....here the women's mosque to the left..
the air has been really bad lately and it really shows in the picture...it's like it's smoke in all of them
that's a lot of pollution ! not very good on our health...

part of the village today....

I guess I need to squeeze in the other six ancient cities before going home !
