A morning ride around Pushkar fair

part of our package was a two hour camel ride to and around the fair grounds
so after breakfast these guys where waiting for us

my Kizna...

it was actually a pretty cold morning after a cold night in the desert

for those of you who haven't been on a camel I can tell you that they are big animals,
long legs !
and you have to be prepared to lean back when they get up or lay down

I did get a good view from up there....or a different view of the fair grounds
just tricky to get any good pictures since the camels do move,
the ships of the desert move a little differently

" this field I'm walking tomorrow morning "

it was quite amazing to see all these young camels in one field
we did miss the camel race though....but I'm not sure there was any because I couldn't find it in the program...would have been fun to see !
well, I guess I just have to go and visit my friend Kathy when there's a race coming up in Abu Dhabi, Oman or Dubai.

if you wonder if I got sore after the ride ?
I did...but not to bad

enjoy your cozy Friday dear reader

Encounters at a watering hole in Pushkar

I just got back from the worlds largest camel fair
that's held every year in Pushkar, Rajasthan
over 25.000 camels are exchanged
but also horses, cows, goats and sheep are sold
going to the fair has been on my Indian bucket list ever since I moved here
check.....
now I need a couple of days to gather my thoughts,
look at all the pictures
and try to get all the sand and dirt out of ....
well, everything I had with me

I hope to show you many more pics from Pushkar
hopefully there's some good ones on my memeory cards
I guess I better get started .....
see ya'

A camelparking along the highway NH8

somehow I have missed this parking "alley" for camels even though
I have gone by this place so many times before
so we just had to stop .....

they look kind of funny laying down.....nice patterns though....

this one didn't like me at all !
I misjudged the length of the harness.....

cute ears and eyes

everyone needs a little nap....

he was so cute because he almost fell of the sack

a young one in between

this was a fun pit stop
I so look forward to my trip to Pushkar !

enjoy your weekend dear reader
we're off to Majnu Ka Tilla

Early morning life in Amber

early morning life is what I like best
especially when I'm out exploring
there's something special with the light !
so of course we decided to do one early morning in Amber
we wanted to see Hati coming into the village....hati means elephant in Hindi
turned out to be hati's...

an old Hindustan car and a tree with grooming and playing langurs
if you can see any ?

sunrises in India are kind of pinkish

morning routine....getting water...

try this one !

I looked up and saw this fellow looking at us.....

out on the mainstreet hati rush hour had just begun

food for the animals and flowers for the morning prayer

of course cows roam the streets also ...and of course they get fed

fast food to go

yes we did as the villagers..we bought some food and fed the elephants
seems like many of the villagers really take care of the elephants

it's a special feeling to touch an elephant trunk

water on the go

morning mala's

it was filling up inside the elephant parking lot

the mahots have to watch out so they don't get a bump in the head

can you imagine walking to school together with an elephant ?

she had gotten a favourite on the way...a sugar cane

this is what I call street food

commuting in different ways

and happy school children

loads of memorable moments
