The Imperial spa had me in a grip

as promised....more pictures from the Imperial spa....
if you haven't seen part one be sure to check in on the post from yesterday....
so I had a little walk about....

love the floor and the lamps !!!

stone intarsia...wonderfully done with the fountain....I did try to get a picture with the water but I guess I need to practise more....

relax relax...I did everything but relax since I was taking the pictures and my heart was beating because of what I saw...petrol and yellow ! love....

in one of the rooms I saw these "wooden blinders"...beautiful...

I guess this was it...but I enjoyed the walk up the stairs...

a final glimpse of the lamp...again...if anyone knows where these are made...please let me know !

Oh well...I guess the Imperial treatment is over for this time....
see you later... I hope the Olympics doesn't have you in the grip?...I'm only asking that because I'm jealous of you guys who can see the cross country skiing. etc...I'm still confused about the fact that even though India is banned from the Olympics there are still three guys competing but doing it as independent athletes ? hmmm
I'm trying to figure it out...

The Imperial Spa had top notch interior design

Mr M was speaking at a  conference at The Imperial hotel in Delhi today so I decided to tag along..
I wanted to check out the Spa ....
they had me at the entrance....I saw this gorgeous lamp through the glass doors....

I have seen these ones before but they have been made out of fabric...Italian ones...but this one was made out glass....somewhere in Jaipur ? (if anybody knows please let me know !)
anyhow I followed the stairs....

it just got better and better....I wouldn't mind having this staircase at home...just need to get a bigger home and since we live on the 20th floor here it would have to be one heck of a staircase right.....haha
but it would be more fun to walk up and down all the stairs don't you think ?

wonderful mosaic pattern around the fountain...

patterns and materials , hard and soft.....just loved it....

the beautiful fountain...reminded me of Taj Mahal....stone intarsia..

I can see myself sitting here afterwards having my tea...

reception area.....love it all but especially the elephant stools and lamps !

I did spend some time in there...so there will be some more pictures coming up...
this was a royal treatment...wasn't it ?
don't forget....if you know where the lamps are made please let me know !

I took a big leap....actually a huge one...when I decided to take leave from my work and move to India with Mr M...now I'm sitting here with my coffee and some candy trying to reflect on this past year....not in detail though....

it has been a roller coaster year...India is as inspirational as it is irritating, it is as colourful as it is dirty,
and it is as fantastic as it is chaotic....

with 26 million people around you in the area you would think that you would never feel alone but there have been moments where I have felt as the lonelyiest person on this earth...at the same time I have wished that I could migrate to the north pole just to be alone without any traffic and horns....

I have made some new friends and I have had the pleasure of family and friends visiting...for which I'm really grateful...don't know what I would have done otherwise...as happy as I have been every time I greet someone at the airport as unhappy have I been every time I've said goodbye...

I've had cravings like crazy for things I can't find here....like swedish candy and swedish coffee....luckily my visitors have brought some with them....someone asked if there's something special that I long for ....yes...filmjölk ! first thing I'll have when I come home again is filmjölk med jordgubbssmak....strawberry flavoured

I have travelled to wonderful places....and I still want to see and do more....
where I want to go in 2014 ? guess I'll need to discuss with Mr M before posting it here....
what a year it has been....and no, I don't have any regrets about signing up for this adventure !
Is anyone out there thinking about an adventure like this one ?

Hope you are having a really nice saturday...
see you soon.

Dinner with friends is always nice

and on these occasions I think it's so much fun to decorate the dinner table...
since it's winter and snowing , not really, and with Christmas  almost here it was easy…I made a winter table with snow balls, candles and stars….

I wanted to try and make béarnaise sauce for the first time ever ! I'm so glad that I tried it out and tested it before our guests arrived…. you see, I realised I had used the wrong vinegar…so….. I had to run to the store and get some good white wine vinegar …then it turned out really good actually….good food, good wine and good company….
good night !

Good morning world

I'm having a really slow morning....
I just pushed the button on the coffee machine.... now I'm going to

pick up this magazine and just browse....this issue has a piece about the backwaters down south....

I so want to see that while living here ....
the magazine as always have loads of beautiful photos....
talking about photos...I'm actually off to an exhibition when my slow morning is over....
Being a stay-at-home-wife-who-does-nothing means that  I'm not in a rush....

check in later and see where I went !

Exclusive furnitures and decor

Yesterday before the monsoon hit I headed to Marina Home, an exclusive furniture store on Mehrauli Road. ( between  Sultanpur and Chatarpur metro stations )

They have lots of exclusive furnitures and also decor such as pillows, flowers ( not real ), glass ware, lighting and lamps etc. A lot of the things where really not my style but it's always fun to look. Some things are just over the top in regards of  well, I guess everything. Sometimes the more luxurious things are, the more grotesque they are to me !
I did see some lamps that I really liked. And most of their artificial flowers where great. So great that I actually bought two..

one for the guest room ( I'm doing all that I can so that our friends Katrin and Gunnar will be happy staying here )

and also a smaller one for one of our bathrooms.

The staff where great.....I learned that the store is a Dubai based store and this is the first one in India.
I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside but I found one on their website so...

looks like out of a store back home....everything is just bigger.

Is there anyone else out there that enjoys looking at furniture ?

Best room in our house

is of course the master bedroom....

The shelf above the bed I made out of drift wood that I found on the beach.

I wonder who these people are ?

the ocean - sea means a lot to me....you can find conchs and shells all over my house..
This big conch is from Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean.

this old make up table I got from a dear friend who's not among us anymore..but I think about her every time I sit there and put my make up on...

this morning it was a magical light over the table so I just couldn't resist and had to show you this one also.....

Guest room at House of Susanna

I thought I'd show you some more of my wonderful ( well that's what I think ) house. This time I'll show you the guest room...maybe you feel like you want to come and visit ? after seeing the pictures.

I hand painted the compass on the wall since it's so hard to hang anything on a slantwise wall.

out of drift wood I found on the shore I made these signs...

an old old table out of pine wood..

well , the theme of the room can't be mistaken

good to have when walking home from a quick dip in the cold sea
I know that our friends always sleeps well in the guest room. That might be because we tend to be so thirsty when they are here....
Feel like spending a night or two at house of susanna ?
