Dog siesta ....

they looked so adorable resting in the shade....

it is hot now so I guess everyone should have a siesta ....
a power nap....

naw....

sibling love....
this little family lived at one of the rural temples in the outskirts of Gurgaon....
they seemed to have a pretty good life there together with the man in charge of the temple....

can't believe how many dogs, pigs, buffalos and holy cows I see everyday !
and do you know what ? they still make me smile...
especially the traffic controllers....
and a smile a day is really good for you
so please feel free to smile !

A quick trip to Greece or ?

the other day I saw these houses out by Damdama village
and it almost felt like I was in Greece or France or so...

just look at those colours....

love the blueish and the greenish...

of course I ran into some lovely ladies while I was exploring around the house...

all smiling ...

these two lovely young ladies where so happy that I wanted to take their picture....
they just giggled...wonderful to hear....
( see the old lady peeking in the corner )

colours here are something...or is it that they stand out ....
I think it's the contrasts that amazes me...
well, it was for sure yet another wonderful visit with lots of wonderful people

enjoy your evening

Morning pig = morgon pigg ?

I just have to show you the pig I fed one of the mornings....
instead of throwing leftovers, peels and so I put it in a bag and feed it to the animals...
it has mostly been to the pigs since I have those just outside the gates....
this pig came running towards me when I called it...
think she was really hungry

they look different from the pigs back home....
kind of like a mix between a domestic pig and a wild boar...

feels good to know that my garbage is liked....

morning pig and morgon pigg is not even close if I translate it for you....
morgon pigg means I'm a "lively", "sprightly" early morning person....
I just found it funny with the swenglish ...
hihi

Harvest time means building straw huts..or hats ?

it kind of looks like a straw hat doesn't it ?....
but I haven't seen any straw hats on anyone at all....

the farmers are busy building these huts to store the food for the animals...
all done by hand....straws in bunt and weaved etc. are used to hold the hut together...

this family was busy in the making...

see the round base with the colourful pieces of fabric...then you see some material already prepared on the ground...

wonder of it's the same technique that they use back home when doing the old straw roofs ?

I do wonder if this really holds up when the monsoon rains starts ? I guess it depends on how many layers of straws they put in on the roof....

ooops, they saw me....
an old lady in the family came walking in and told them....and all of a sudden the work stopped....all smiling faces....
I decided to let them go on with their work in the scorching sun....

I remembered that I did see some really nice huts when driving from Faterphur Sikri...
these seems to be built with another technique...

at home home I do have some really nice straw hats !! my dads old ones...
and I have bought one big "ladylike" here....
good protection against the sun
needed here ....not so sure how much back home ?

A small tobacco field

I'm not into smoking but I haven't seen a tobacco field here before so when I saw this the other day I just had to get out and have a look !

tobacco and onion....

the family saw me and my driver walking into their field so of course they came out and talked to us..well, not all of them talked...
told us that this is for the own use..."all you need is tobacco, onions and mint"....and guess what ? that's actually all I saw on the small plot....

the girls was so cute...the man just kind of stood there and looked at us...

the calf so wanted to go to the water so it pulled the girl over there

not a word......

an old wagon...

ready to make a hut for the animal food....I'll show you in my next post....
until then
enjoy your saturday !

Guess you need a good balance !

yesterday out in one of the villages I saw this woman walking pass me with these water jars on her head....
it's just amazing how she can do this....
and it looks like she's doing it so effortlessly...

just a little touch...

and then she's letting go...

I guess it takes a lot of practise...
can you imagine walking like this with water in them ?
please feel free to try...

Damdama Lake

"early" this morning I went for a drive to a lake nearby.....Damdama Lake....
it's only about a 40 minute ride from Gurgaon...I thought that if I left early it wouldn't get so hot..
turned out that today was the hottest day so far this summer... 45 degrees !
but it was a beautiful ride along and at the foot of the mountains.....very bumpy though !...
plenty of villages with lots to see...well,that's if you're up to seeing countryside...

they have a little "resort" out by the lake...some rooms and you can rent paddle boats and all kinds of stuff..but the best season for all that is not now...too hot...
this flame of the forest tree was leading my way to the gate..

love the colours...

the lake was a lot smaller than I expected but ot was still a lake....

with the mountains nearby....

with water comes animals...
and I met more animals along the way....it was such a nice ride because I saw so many things....
many stops....

a guy and his camel...

goats resting at the foot of the hill....

they looked so sad, the donkeys....

 the last of the crop...

what a beauty....just look at those horns...

contrasts...fascinating to see the old old ways....sometimes I think " so this is how life was back home many years ago ".......

I have so many other things to show from this little lake trip..
guess I'll show you some more in my next post....

hope you had a wonderful Valborg and a nice 1:a maj !
