Taj Mahal

Yesterday we got in the car at the brake of dawn ( actually it was earlier….) and headed for Agra and Taj Mahal…
even though it's a long drive it is so worth it….

it's good to be there early….not a lot of people….

Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631. The sublime garden-tomb, an image of the islamic garden of paradise, cost nearly 41 million rupees and 500 kilos of gold. About 20.000 workers laboured for 12 years to complete it in 1643.

happy friends….who where amazed by the beauty….

from one of the guest houses ! on the right wing...

Taj Mahal from Red Fort….the banks of Yamuna river and a slight haze…so beautiful…almost like an illusion..
part two of our day is coming later so check in again to see,
On the road to and from Agra.
