A field of mustard, sugar canes, papaya and banana trees...how exotic

My driver has a friend who owns some land and on that land he grows
black mustard...and curious George, that's me, wanted to have a peek of course...

he also grows marigold....

then I got to see papaya trees..

sugar canes....

and banana trees...see the flower hanging in the middle...that's where there will be bananas later on...

the green leaves you see up to the left are from a mango tree...just not any fruit yet...to cold....
it was so refreshing to come out and just walk among some greenery, even though it's right next door to some high rises being built....inspired by the greenery I bought two small palm trees and some flowers....
I did meet some animals close up at the nursery and if you want to see which one bee sure to look at my next post...
dear reader, have a really nice friday evening with FREDAGSMYS !
does anyone have a good translation for that ? one that says it all ?

Chrysanthemum flowers seems to be popular

It's still winter here in India but winter here is a little different from winters in Sweden....cold nights, lots of fog (or pollution I don't know) and then during daytime it's actually very nice outside.... so when I got back home today I decided to take a stroll around "our back yard" ....I see the chrysanthemum flowers all over at the moment...and "our yard" is also filled with these colourful flowers....
thought I'd show you....just to cheer you up....spring is coming ....even in Sweden !

a little sunshine from me to you, dear reader

Sunrise in Gurgaon

I saw this bright light through my curtains and yes, it was the sun so I had to go outside onto the balcony...what a gorgeous sunrise...too bad the colours doesn't show exactly what I saw but still....
while I was standing there it looked like something was going to wrap itself around the sun...and it did...slowly...

hope your morning was as good as mine....I made myself a mango-banana-kinu smoothie before heading off to school...so good and so healthy...
did you eat a healthy breakfast ?

I met the cutest little puppy yesterday.

He belonged to the pottery family and he came running up to me and he was just adorable....my heart melted....

just look at that little fur ball...cutest ever but no I'm not adopting a dog over here!
I get mails every day about dog shelters and about adopting dogs.... I see so many stray dogs all over...and I hear them at night...hunting or just howling...and some of them don't have a good life I'm sad to say....but every time I see a puppy it makes me smile.
Adorable isn't she ?

Pottery girl with a sunshine smile.

I know I'm rubbing it in, but today it's 23 degrees outside, that is + 23....the sun is shining and it's really nice .....I just had to get out into the sunshine and I needed some pottery for my balcony so I went to this pottery making vendor that I have driven by a couple of times....

after a couple of minutes I found myself bargaining ....what should I pay ?....well I got the prize down 210 rupees....I know I could have bargained more but while I was standing there I saw this beautiful young family member that was cooking naan bread and I so wanted to take some pictures so I let it go....and focused on her.... her younger siblings where sitting inside the tent eating...

I showed her the pictures and she smiled and wobbled her head....like Indians do....and then a shy smile....she was so pretty ....she made my day...and they where so happy for all the money they got.....
I payed 500 rupees, 50 kronor for 2 big pots and 2 smaller ones !

Hope your day is a good one !

Exercise+endorphins=Happiness

so did anyone of you out there follow my advise yesterday ? the one about dance, walk or run.....
I followed my own advise...I ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes....actually what I do, because I have a really bad back, is that I run for 10 minutes and then I walk for 5 minutes....or I walk  5 and run 15 minutes...or... well you get the point ..depending on how my back is doing....

since the pool is still closed I have got to do other things besides swimming ....like weights, cardio on the cross trainer or the bike...but I do it...see that's the thing....to find a routine that works for you and stick to it...try to get at least three to four workouts in per week.....
then why exercise ?
the answer is quite obvious but what many don't know is that there is a link between exercise and happiness...endorphin production is connected to them both......it's the endorphins that make you feel oh,so good....they act as both painkillers and as the pay-off for your bodys reward system...the thing is that researchers have found that light to moderate weight lifting or cardiovascular exercise doesn't produce endorphins so you really need to dig in and get that body working out !
BUT don't start your first workout this way....slowly build it up...it's better to get it going and keep it going instead of showing off once in the gym and then you're not able to walk for a week and then you give up because it hurts to much....(maybe someone recognise themselves here)

get some good music in your phone ( with a good beat to what you are doing)and some good headphones....crank it up and get going.....for me it's so much easier with music because I actually don't like to run or to have a date with the cross trainer....I have managed to get  4 and a half hours of good workout music into my Iphone(yes, old lady proud of herself)....maybe you, dear reader have any good tunes for workouts? please share if  you do....
so what better way than to start off this week by getting your body moving to some good music
good luck with the workout !
and please share if you do get started ....send me a message ....

Indian dances on the amphitheatre

I saw different dance performances from the state of Tamilnadu, Rajasthan and Manipur carried out on the amphitheater yesterday....for me it was a first ...
I'm a little mad at myself for not writing down what they where called ....but I think I remember two of them..correct me please, if I'm wrong....yes, I got some answers....thank you Abhi and Sunitha
so this first one is a classical dance called Bharatnatyam from Tamilnadu...

all of a sudden I saw the audience in the window.....adorable...

expressional faces....

expressions, hand movements, steps etc....lots of things to keep in mind.....
second performance was totally little different from the first one...this reminded me of gypsy dances...
this one from Rajasthan...

this dance I think is called gair goomar..starts out with one on her head and then it adds up ...

went back stage and took some pictures....

love this one....
the last performance is a classical dance from the eastern state of Manipur...

it looked like she floated onto the stage...with subtle moves and a skirt that was like a barrel...think this is manipuri dance ....

fantastic to see these different dances....you see dear reader, dance is an important subject in school here in India....it's a mandatory subject up to 10th grade ....so we do have our own dance teacher at Kunskapsskolan...

Have a fantastic Republic day
and don't forget to move around a little bit....dance,walk or run for instance..
release those endorphins that makes you feel good !
