Exploring the neighbourhood around the baoli

I'm so happy to have found a friend that, like me likes to explore....so when we visited the ugrasen ki baoli, the step well right in the heart of Delhi we decided to have a look around the corner....
really happy that we did....

wonderful flowers hiding the old wall.....

I saw this little home and fell in love with the colours on the walls

the typical indian bed in front.....

I haven't seen a tree growing like this before...

look at those roots in the wall...

then we saw all this laundry hanging to dry....

we both said it must be an area where they do laundry....

hands on the wall to welcome the bride into the household ? or is it to please the gods ?

we did see a lady working....

had to get a picture of her among the sheets and towels...

innovation....smart ha? at this point we started talking about "wonder where they actually do the washing "?

we should have peeked inside one of the doors further down the street .....

because when I contacted a friend of mine to ask where the laundry place I know she visited was....
guess what she said....behind the baoli....by that time we where already in the car and on our way to another spot....
I guess we just have to go back Kathy !

Flame of the forest flowers coming your way

we have a tree named Flame of the Forest here in India and it has the most beautiful flowers....
guess why it's called flame of the forest ?
the colour is everything from coral red to more orange to reddish pinkish...
the trees really stand out because it has no leaves just all these colourful flowers....
the flower has really thick leaves and you can hear when it falls to the ground....

beautiful don't you think ?

I took a friend to the arts and crafts museum yesterday

and it was so much fun....
I really recommend this small museum
even though I have been here many times i still enjoy it....
I see new things every time...or look at the things with different eyes...
like these beautiful "windows"....

so love these teracotta guys

a close up of one of the many beautiful doors..

my friend Kathy from Canada...

always a couple of vendors from different parts of India selling their things in the courtyard of the museum...

artist in action...both Kathy and I really liked the painting in the left corner...too bad it wasn't finished

Kathy is a good bargainer....she bought a wonderful elephant painting...

I did like this one....

the museum is a popular spot for upcoming artists....every time I have been here I find them sitting around drawing or painting ....

the courtyard in the museum village...

the wall paintings are many ....to bad that the maintenance isn't top notch ....some things are in really bad shape and needs some care....but I did see some restoring going on....
when we where leaving we saw this little temple on the go...

I don't know what this represents....but they sure did look colourful ....don't you agree?
enjoy your sunday.....I sure will
maybe I'll even do two posts today ?
